Aerial Angels Technical Requirements

Outdoor Performances need:

  • An open, level space at least 25' x 25' (7.5m x 7.5m) for the performing area. Space must be free of overhanging wires or other objects to a height of 30' (9m).  Trees are sometimes OK. Grass, pavement, wood chips and gravel are generally OK, but the space must be reasonably smooth and level.
  • Room for audience to sit or stand around the performing space - layout can be proscenium, thrust, or in the round.
  • Dressing area where we can be private from audience and protected from weather.

Indoor Performances need:

  • For a full show with a beginning, middle and end, we require a minimum 25'x25' (7.5m x 7.5m) stage with overhead clearance of 30' (9m) if we are using our freestanding rig, or load-bearing beams or a truss rigging point no less than 20'(6.5m) high, with 24' (7m) or higher preferred.
  • For atmosphere/walkabout, the Aerial Angels can perform on one or more 10'x10'(3.3m x 3.3m) or larger stages; at floor level; on our rig (with space requirements as described above); or hanging from your load-bearing beams or truss.
  • Dressing/warm-up rooms.

Theatre Performances need:

  • A stage that is minimum 25' x 25' (7.5m x 7.5m).
  • At least one load-bearing beam, truss, dead-hung batten, or grid capable of bearing 2500lbs or 1500kg and located at least 20' (6.5m) above the stage floor, 25'(7.3m) or higher preferred.
  • Teasers and electrics may need to be higher than normal.
  • Dressing/warm-up rooms.
  • Lighting for a warm look, a cool look, and two specials.
  • House lights to 30-50%.

For all performance spaces, we can get as elaborate as your technical support allows, but these are the minimum requirements needed to do our best work for you.

The Rig

Our rig is a portable tripod, extending 20-24' (6-7.3m) high, depending on overhead clearance and ground surface. We must have minimum 30' (7.5m) overhead clearance with no obstructions or hanging objects to fully erect the rig; please contact us for more options if you have height between 20'-25'(6-7.5m).

The rig base is a 20' per side (6m) triangle, and requires a minimum stage depth and width of 25' (7.5m).

The rig can be set directly on the ground, but we do need a minimum 10'x10' (3.3m) stage, elevated at least 3' (0.6m) in order to present our ground skill acts with good visibility. **DOES NOT APPLY TO "BUSKER" OR STREET SHOWS**

We prefer a 2-hour set-up time during which we have complete access to the performance space including access to the rigging points via your lift or ladder. RIGGING MUST BE PERSONALLY DONE BY AERIAL ANGELS or a person designated and supervised by us. Shorter rigging time is possible but must be discussed and agreed-upon in advance.

If we are sharing a stage, the rig can be taken down almost fully assembled and set out of the way in 7 minutes with assistance from 2 people plus Aerial Angels.  The rig can be set, again with assistance, in 10 minutes.

For outdoor events, we must be able to drive our vehicle onsite prior to opening to load-in, and drive onsite for load-out at the conclusion of the event.

FOR BUSKER FESTIVALS/STREET EVENTS we have extensive experience with street festivals and can adapt to your time frame and environment. Generally, we work in a one hour time slot that includes set-up, show and tear-down.

SOUND

We can work with your sound system or ours.  We require amplification appropriate to your event and audience size, the ability to play an ipod through the system, and three wireless headset or lavalier mics (not hand-held). We can bring our own microphones with packs and receivers. Our Fender Passport system is appropriate for crowds of up to 500; our smaller can amp is suitable for outdoor crowds of up to 300.

LIGHTING

For indoor or after-dark events, we require lighting adequate for the audience to see us and for us to be able to work safely in the air. General lighting is just fine! Focused lighting needs to include at least one instrument focused at our aerial performance height.
