We conditioned during the carols at the end of the show, and then joined everyone on stage for Silent Night. Quite moving when the piano dropped out and the soloists went off mic and everyone just sang, the audience to us and we to them, casual clothing and little velvet princess dresses, the aerialists and the celtic step dancers and the indoor kite guy and the lyrical dancers and the hired voices and the local voices.
Over ham wraps and packaged cookies in the break between afternoon rehearsal and evening show, I threaded pants elastic and Mona, the main soloist, told me, "...when you're up there in the air with those wings, your face just looks like you're blessing everyone." |
