| | Boot camp kicks my BOOTY

| AHHHHHH is all I can really say about boot camp. It was hard, hurty, sweet, fun, and absolutely amazing. It was fun to have new people join us Angels at camp this time. I enjoyed watching them learn and try new things as we did the same. It was also nice to actually have it at my gym. I felt right at home and it was a lot closer to home than Kalamazoo.
I had Missy, Frank/Richard, and Ashley (an Angel) stay with me for the week. It was fun and very entertaining. Although we didn't spend much time at the house. Most of our time was in the gym. We would arrive at nine in the morning and we didn't get to leave until around nine at night. I guess it's my fault we were there so long because I had trampoline practice right after camp. The three of them would play in the gym while I kicked my butt at practice.
Speaking of kicking the booty that's exactly what camp did to me. I was beginning to feel terribly out of shape and camp couldn't have come at a better time. I was a bit worried at first however because the last time I climbed a silk was in July I think (way too long). But I learned a lot of new fun things that I can incorporate into a silk routine and I definitely feel more confident up in the air. Luna also taught me a cool new flip on the lyra... it was way cool.
I like the fact that I now have silk burn on my legs and feet/ankles, my body is soooo sore, and I have bruises not only on the tops of my feet from lyra but on my shin as well because Luna has a boney butt and fell on it. ALTHOUGH it was COMPLETELY my fault :)... cause for some reason we don't make good partners for partner balancing. Oh my gosh that brings me to another fun and exciting thing I learned how to play on. THE ROLLING GLOBE... I can now get up on my own and walk forward, backward, turn a corner, turn in a complete circle, walk on all fours, juggle, and I can now jump!
My most exciting moment on the rolling globe would have to be when Star told me to try and juggle and walk at the same time... so I did. Lady and Star were sooooo excited for me we had to stop Isabella in her new hoop routine and we had to show her my new trick. Isabella watched said "good job" and followed it up with "eventually I want you to be able to jump rope"... baby steps I tell myself... baby steps :)! Spike was my very own personal cheerleader through it all!
Well I had an exciting and fun week. It was tiring and very hard, but so worth it! I even learned a couple new words (thanks Isabella) :)!!!

| Thursday, November 09, 2006 Over the past weekend I have had the wonderful opportunity to compete in London at the David Ward Cup competition. There were teams from all over the world that attended. London of course was everything I expected; beautiful, fun, exciting, expensive, and cold. I guess three out of the five are good. As far as competition went I did pretty well. I haven't been able to train as much as I should have. I took sixth in our synchronized competition, and 20th out of 50 over all. My team mate Stephen took first on double mini, and the boys took third overall. The competition style is much more laid back over seas it kind of threw me off a bit. They would warm up in sweatpants and a t-shirt, and just bounce around. I'm pretty sure we (the Americans) were the only ones warming up in leotards; oh well. On the second day of competition we saw a girl brake her neck. She was doing a double front flip and came down short and the ground caught her forehead forcing her neck back and it snapped. A double front is a very dangerous skill that we usually never compete, instead we add a half twist at the end to make it a safer landing. Anyway, my coach is an ER doctor and was luckily standing right by and braced her neck and back. She was taken to the hosital and released that night. She broke her C5, but she will be ok! Later in the week we got to actually be tourists and see the city and much much more. I saw the show Les Miserables and it was amazing. And we of course looked like tourists having to actually look down at the street to find out with way to look before crossing the street. The road acutally said "Look Left, and Look Right". My coach almost got hit by a bus a couple times :). We also had the privilage of seeing a little girl who got her head stuck in the Queen's gate at Buckingham Palace. It took them twenty minutes of struggling and then my coaches jumped in and her head was released! :) Like I said London was amazing, and I can't wait to go again! Hopefully next time I will be more prepared!

As we were on our way to Ohio... we stopped in BFE, Ohio to get gas. We got a little more than gas....
As Huzzah and I were on our way to the restrooms he though it would be fun to race. Little does he know I am the most competitive person in the whole wide world of Ohio. So Huzzah looks me straight in the eyes and said the three words that I love to hear... "I'll race you"!
So I start running... and I'm going to win. I look at the three stalls that stand before me, but I don't have time to be picky, the clock is running. I notice the second stall is locked, so that's out of the question. The handicap one is wide open, but I thought it would be rude to use that one just in case... plus it's an extra seven feet and time is money. So I go for stall NUMBER ONE...
WHAT'S BEHIND DOOR NUMBER ONE?? As I swung open the door I was greeted by the one thing that no one ever wants to see... no not Huzzah doing karaoke... but a woman sitting down dropping the kids off at the pool while talking on her cell phone. I screamed "AHHHHHHH' she said "it's ok" and I ran to the handicap stall... let me remind you, I am still racing. I ran, my pants were down before I got to the stall, I went, flushed, washed, and ran outside to find out Huzzah was still in there. What on earth could be possibly be doing? He was walking and taking his time... it wasn't a race at all.
BUT I STILL WON!!!
I'm done. |

| Today was an interesting day to say the least. Today was the day to eat fire... as I thought to myself "I have to put those flames into my mouth?? Ha ha ha". But of course Isabella was cheering me on the whole way. So I stand there with the fire in my hand and I'm supposed to touch it to my touch...yeah right. So after about five tries of me freaking out before it hit my tongue my good Luna gave me the confidence I needed. She said "You're mexican, you're used to eating hot stuff." And I thought to myself, she's right! So I did it and I was so proud, I even gave Isabella a high five ;). So just when I think I've done the impossible Isabella tells me now it's time to put it out in my mouth. I thought, this can't be that bad... the worst thing that could happen is I could set my face on fire... and it can't be that bad, I knew Isabella had my back and would put the flames down or tackle me. And after three tries, I got that down... but it was hot. Who would have thought that fire in your mouth could be hot. What a rehearsal we had, time to pack up and leave for the weekend :)! Have a great one! |
