NEWS:
Cirque du K, Kalamazoo College's circus club, debuted their second main stage performance on March 15th in the Dalton Theatre. MAERD (dream spelled backwards!) incorporated a cast of ten student performers and was a great success. Skills included partner acrobatics, aerial silk, dance, juggling, poi, diabolo, devil sticks, object manipulation/ balancing, and contortion. Colleen "Mango" McIntee shares, "Since working with the Angels, I have been able to apply lots of what I have learned to our club's performance ability. Working in conjunction with M.A. Harrison, we were able to choreograph a great aerial silk piece- never before seen or done on Kalamazoo's campus. M.A. also assisted in a circus safety seminar workshop put on by myself and the club. The mentorship Cirque du K has received from the Angels has been invaluable to the clubs growth, and we look forward to future interactions!"
WE'RE CURRENTLY WORKING ON:
Our week of Big Show rehearsals in Orlando were fantastic! Our ten-person ensemble developed an incredible atmosphere of playfulness and new beginnings, of reunion and budding friendships. We are now beginning the massive work of assembling props, sets, equipment and costumes - the first show is planned for May 20-21 in Dekalb, IL.
Allison and Zay are enjoying 14 hours of rehearsal and writing a day at the University of Alaska in Anchorage as they create two shows simultaneously. Fallen is the story of Eve, Jezebel, Delilah, Salome, Lot's Wife, Vashti. harlots, liars, murderesses and rebels. These bad girls' stories of love, loss, curiosity and defiance are told in the air and on the ground through a stunning combination of words, movement and aerial theatre. History isn't always written by the winners... They also look forward to playing with the Scared Scriptless Improv Comedy Troupe this weekend.
Kimberly is performing her aerial hoop act in Essen, Germany in March and April at the GOP Variete. It is a rockabilly themed show that has been making its way across the German Variete scene over the past year. While she always misses her fellow angels, she does get to perform with Elvis everyday!
